Richard Donner, producer/director of many fine movies such as, Omen 3,The Goonies, Ladyhawke,Lethal Weapon 1-4, Xmen,Conspiracy Theory,The Lost Boys,Jurascic Park as well as countless TV episodes from the 1960s. Leonidas himself, Gerard Butler stars as the love interest and steals the whole show, IMO. He is so darn cute. The story is based on a Michael Critchton book I’ll have to add to my retirement reading list.
Some archeological students are working on La Roque Castle in the Dordogne Valley of France. They discover a note written by their professor calling for help, buried in a previously unopened tunnel in a monastery. Meanwhile, that professor has disappeared. When they go to find him, they are shanghaied into going into a time tunnel (3D fax machine) to rescue him.
I liked Ladyhawke very much. While this movie is not quite as romantic, it is still quite entertaining and I will rate it 3/5 acorns. The fight scenes are well choreographed. Can’t say it has any clives. No heads swung off into the air, or entrails dangling, just the “zoot” of the arrows and the fiery trebucher.
